SY RICHIE Varieties

SY RICHIE was released by Syngenta Seeds, Inc. It is a medium maturity, medium height soft red winter wheat bred and developed by Syngenta Participations AG. SY Richie performs best in the mid to south Delta and across into the eastern Atlantic coastal plain areas. Juvenile growth habit is erect. Plant color at boot stage is green. Anther color is yellow. Auricle anthocyanin is absent. Flag leaf at boot stage is recurved, twisted and wax is absent. Head shape is oblong and apically awnletted. Glumes are medium in length. Glume shoulder shape is oblique with an acute beak. Chaff color is white at maturity. Seed shape is ovate. Seed cheeks are rounded. It has shown resistance to the current races of powdery mildew, stripe rust and leaf rust but is known to be susceptible to Hessian fly.
